It’s not too often you get to taste a wine with perfect maturity – Mérite always holds back their wines so that their fans can experience what great wine looks like with a bit of age on it. Though this blend only has 6% malbec, its presence is explicitly felt, with a strong bitter cocoa and purple fruit component. This wine feels undeniably Australian – with a minty quality and elegant, integrated oak – but with balanced alcohol and bright acidity (two qualities not often attributed to Australian shiraz).
