Lu Cori means “my heart” and describes the love Marilena Barbera has for her interpretation of Nero d’ Avola. Marilena is the third generation proprietor and winemaker at Cantina Barbera in Menfi in the southwest coast of Sicily.

Marilena is committed to producing high quality grapes from her 30 hectares of in Tenuta Belicello.  The grapes are handpicked at the end of August when the tannins reach a perfect phenolic ripeness.

The wine is 100% Nero d’ Avola and Marilena opts for creating a more feminine and sensual approach to the grape instead of the more sturdy and masculine style. It is juicy, salty & spicy, with fragrant berry flavors, a full but soft palate. The bouquet delivers marine aromas and generous flavors with a touch of savory herbs.

This wine will pair up well with whatever has a tomato in it!
