Falanghina, Pecorino, Ribolla, Gialla, Fiano, Muscat Gialla, and Vermentino from Australia.
The pioneering Chalmers Winery in Heathcote, Victoria, Australia has established a nursery and winery to develop Italian varietals that can adapt to the country’s ever-changing climate. The winery focuses on grapes that are drought tolerant, thick-skinned, and hold high acidity, to create amazing interpretations of Italian wines that clearly have an Aussie spin!
The Bianco is a who’s-who of Italian white grapes - Falanghina, Pecorino, Ribolla, Gialla, Fiano, Muscat Gialla, and holding it all together - our favorite - Vermentino!
The grapes for this dry aromatic white blend are hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed, and co-fermented with wild yeast in stainless steel producing a crisp mineral palate with notes of fresh pear, cardamom, citrus and orchard fruit flavors, and the signature briny qualities of Vermentino!
