About 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah. The 2021 vintage was not ideal. Frost happened, as it does. It’s not the end of the world though. It’s actually not frost we worry about, it’s whether or not the buds have arrived prior to the inevitable frosty temperatures that happen in April. We lost quite a bit of primary buds, but the regrowth arrived, albeit late and making everything to follow a little late, but the vintage eventually got its act together and shaped up. While there was a little less quantity, I’m happy with the above average acidity, the lower alcohol and lovely freshness. Someone told me “this is the wine that makes Côtes du Rhône nervous.” I’ll take that. Pairing Note: Great red for a party because it goes in any direction you need.
