100% Teroldego from Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. Biodynamic.
Elisabetta Foradori and her kids are the top producers of Teroldego, an ancient indigenous grape variety related to Pinot Noir and Syrah. In 1985 at the age of 19 Elisabetta took over her father’s estate in the Campi Rotaliano zone of Trentino in the Dolomites. Just out of enology school, Elisabetta doubled down on yet another endangered varietal - Teroldego. Elisabetta brought a biodynamic approach to the vineyards to bring more energy and dimension to her wines.
Teroldego, or “the little sour one,” is anything but that - the wine is medium-bodied with soft tannins and bright acidity and all of those classic dark fruit flavors. In a country where there’s literally hundreds of superb red wine grapes, Teroldego is one of my favorites!
